Pile of Packets

2/21/2020

Up in the cupboard
We always had a pile of packets
An assortment of colors
Indicative of their flavor
And sorted in no particular order

Every now and then
When it was time for a pitcher
Of sugary flavor water
We’d shuffle through
That stack of packets

Cherry, grape, lime,
Fruit punch, raspberry,
Strawberry, watermelon,
Black cherry, orange,
And one lone packet of apple

There were other flavors, clearly
But these were the flavors we liked
These were the ones most common
In our cupboard then
And in my cupboard now.
